Kirkintilloch, Surrounding Areas & Local amenities

Kirkintilloch town centre was once famous for producing the red post boxes and red phone boxes. Kirkintilloch is now famed for the ‘Canal Capital of Scotland’. It is the only town where the historic canal passes directly through the town centre, offering boat trips, a marina, and scenic towpaths for walking, cycling and fishing. There are many shops on the main street including pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, take-aways, hairdressers, barbers,  beauty shops, charity shops, gift shops, and supermarket.

In addition to the canal the town features the Auld Kirk Museum and Peel Park and is close to the antonine wall.

Named as one of the best places to live in Scotland in 2024 Kirkintilloch is described as having a perfect blend of modern living, history, and easy access to Glasgow.
